Company History
Freefall Interface was founded in 2024, spun out of Freefall Audio, a game audio services studio we'd been running for a few years prior.
The idea came from a real project: BTX (now Aimlock), a mobile multiplayer shooter targeting the Indian market, where device specs range wildly. The developers had a hard constraint - zero audio CPU budget. That meant hundreds of assets with non-dynamic effects baked in Wwise were consuming the entire headroom.
The fix was manual. Find every asset in Pro Tools, process it, rename it, export it, reimport it into the middleware, test it. Up to 3,000 assets. Days spent on logistics, not sound design.
The realisation was simple: this isn't creative work, it's repetitive process. It should be automated. We validated the idea with game audio directors, got consistent confirmation, and started building Malleant, a standalone tool that handles non-dynamic processing at the asset level, with no round trips required.
Using Freefall Interface's tools has completely reshaped the way I approach sound design. The workflow feels intuitive and thoughtfully guided, making it easy to stay focused and consistent in my creative process. I feel more in control of both the technical and artistic sides of my work, and each small adjustment leads to meaningful, noticeable improvements in my sound. The precision and insight built into the software keep me motivated to experiment and refine. I genuinely feel more efficient, more creative, and more confident in the results I'm producing every day.
